Have you ever found yourself in a timeline quandary? You have your change point all lined up in your head and you merrily proceed down the path of your history as butterflies swarm in all directions. And then it happens....the wall! That one BIG historical event or tactical truism of the era you can't ignore or justify butterflying away that effectively renders all your well though out changes moot if you can't think of an "out".
Yeah. I'm at that point right now.
So, to my question....is there something...anything...the Federalists of Hamilton's day could have done to reach out to the old (preferably of the original 13 colonies) south that garner some support and not get themselves so pathetically marginalized outside of New England? I mean, they were essentially the party of the centralizing government and the upper class. Surely they have something to appeal to the Southern plantation owners? Any help getting out of this temporal Saragasso would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
