After the withdrawal of US troops from South Vietnam, even without that precious American manpower, there did seem to be a significant chance of South Vietnam surviving the Vietnam War as an independence state from North Vietnam in 1973, however, during the following years, that possibility eroded into pieces.

However, what if South Vietnam holds its own against the North? Will we see a democratic state like South Korea or Taiwan, as all 3 were dictatorships at this point, but the two that survived have democratized by now. Will North Vietnam still be pro-US today as OTL, or will it hate the US for having cheated it out of the South?
