South Slavic converts to Islam

No specific reason. I just wonder how some of you think about it. So... What I want is more converts among Bulgarians, Serbs and Croats to Islam with a PoD no earlier than 1699.

I am experimenting with some ideas but I need you for this as well.

Ready, set, go!

The Bosnian conversion to Islam seems to have been the result of special circumstances not present (at least to the same extent) among other South Slavs:

"Several factors appear to have been behind this process. Most important was that Christianity had relatively shallow roots in Bosnia prior the Ottoman domination. Bosnia lacked a strong Christian church organization to command a strong following—the result of a scarcity of priests and competition among the Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches and the indigenous and schismatic Bosnian Church, which collapsed shortly before the Ottomans arrived. This left most Bosnians religiously unengaged and receptive to the appeal of Islam’s sophisticated and dynamic institutions. This receptiveness was aided by the development among many Bosnians of a kind of folk Christianity centered on various practices and ceremonies that was adaptable to a form of folk Islam popular at the time of the invasion..." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamization_of_Bosnia_and_Herzegovina

I don't think too much. Maybe it would affect the Bulgarians as there are Turks among them and they're closer to Constantinople. But the Serbs and Croats would be less affected.
In addition to Turkification, Albanisation might also be affected by a larger Islamic Slavic populace. Small muslim Slavic populations might be less likely to "Albanised", rather it might go the other way since the Slavic populations are bigger than the Albanian ones.

What was the difference between Bosnia and other South Slavs that led to Bosniaks adopting Islam to a larger degree than say Serbs, Croats, Slovenes and Bulgarians?

How would Balkan demography be affected by having a mostly Islamic South Slavic population? How would natality, mortality, emigration and immigration be affected?

Would Islamic South Slavs be "Western", "European", "Middle Eastern", "White?

How would a greater portion of South Slavs converting to Islam affect the standing of South Slavs in the Ottoman empire?

I don't know the precise numbers, but I believe the OTL Muslim population of the Balkans in the XIX century was much larger than today - there was considerable ethnic cleansing (or reconversion to Christianity) when the Balkan nations gained their freedom.

I was going to go with Muslim Slavic Bulgarians in the middle ages but you ruined the fun... :p

I think a industralized Ottoman Empire could have migrants from the Middle East, although they wouldn't be properly South Slavic speaking.
