South Korea didn't boom

What if South Korean economy didn't boom but South Korean economy stagnate due to corruption.

What country in Asia will boom if South Korea didn't boom?

What would be the timeline?

Why need any country boom just because South Korea does? Also, wouldn't the fact South Korea is capitalist (once it was) mean that it was going to boom (comparative to North Korea) almost inevitably?

I'm not so sure. Look at the sterling economic success of, say, Bangladesh.

Korea was poor in 1945, with little in the way of resources. And the way it developed has had plenty of people scratching their head ever since.

True. Then again, Taiwan's economy boomed and there are people out there who believe that it is due to Feng Shui (even though I think it was because Japan already built up an economy in Taiwan, whether or not it was a secondary economy to Tokyo's).

As for a South Korean economy that goes bust - have Syngman Rhee and his cronies live on just a bit longer, embezzle more money, and just destroy the economy.
