Sources for Japanese sword making.

I know, but your post came off as saying that their is absolutely nothing interesting about Japanese sword production and that John7755 should research European swordsmithing instead.

Why on earth do people think that the only two styles of swordsmithing/use are European and Japanese?
All these arguments always come down to Katana vs. European swords.
Can't we have a Tulwar vs. Jian debate for once?
I guess it's largely to do with how Indians and Chinese martial prowess tends to be hugely underrated in the west as well as how westerners are more familiar with European stuff and that there is this huge fascination in the west with Japanese culture.

Though to be honest, the Chinese generals from the Ming Dynasty found the katana to be so good(it inflicted heavy losses upon Ming forces,I'm not quite sure why that's so) that they adopted the sword themselves.

Well, the only real conflicts between China and the European states happened at a time when the odds are so heavily stacked against the Chinese the Europeans might as well have been using cheat codes (instant civ tech up, to be precise). Not many remember that the Dutch lost their foothold in Taiwan to Ming remnants. Not the Ming, but the last vestiges of the Ming. It was a time when European techology was, at best, on par.

And yes, the Chinese loved the katana, and proceeded to adopt the wodao as a design. I don't know how it fares against the katana, but I assume with iron in abundance, it should be strong enough to cut through raw power than technique.
