Sounds Plausible, But isn't

I find the Idea of the Axis winning WWII and the Japanese managing to occupy the west coast of the US to be pretty silly. Although the IJN was quite an effective fighting force, as far as a land war the IJA would probably have been clobbered once landing in the US, not to mention that the Axis powers combined did not have the manpower to successfully occupy all of the territory of the Allied powers.

Yes the IJN was quite capable. Even formidable. I'll even say circa-1941 a division of Japanesse Infantry would beat a division of US infantry.

The simple problem is logisitics. It's a heck of a long way from Tokyo to LA. Supplying an invading force, to say nothing of actually getting the job done, would be an impossibility for the Japanesse.

The most plausable scenario I can imagine would be them getting all of the US's Pacific holdings including Alaska. That's along with a simotanious German victory.

Scenarios in which the CSA wins the American Civil War
... a strong central government
LOL. This in a "country" (to be generous) where the various states refused to share railroad assets with one another in the middle of a war. You almost expect North Carolina's troopers to say what New York's did in 1812, "Nah, we're not expected to fight outside our borders. Sorry.":p

If you want an all-too-common one, Japan with any chance of winning the Pacific War:eek: (as opposed to the country being turned into a parking lot:eek::eek:).

One might say that the timeline in which we live would seem rather nimplausible from the point of view of various possible alternate timelines.

I have very rarely seen a TL where Japan wins. But it could be done, I don't think it's as impossible as everyone says. A total victory is, but not a crushing blow to American morale that results in a negotiated settlement.
