What if at the end of WWII the USSR created a Sorbian nation out of East Germany?
It's going to be rather empty, there was only 50000 Sorbs.
Sorbian? A nation of Sorbet?
Mmm ... Sorbet.
But no. They're a Slavic group.

I don't think it's plausible to give them an entire country, since they only have like 60,000 people. What about giving them control of a city, something like Danzig?
You have to remember that a lot of historians, philosophers and other "advisor" types who affected decision-making in USSR were educated by professors who had strong Slavophile leanings. So yes, they had been aware of Sorbs allright. Had no designs for their independence, as Sorbs are too few.Had anyone in the USSR even heard of the Sorbs? They were a tiny ethnic minority confined to one region and consisting of a people who were mostly Germanised.
tough job, but interesting,
it could only work, if the allies treat the Germans really bad (MORGENTHAU OR WORSE) and the sorbs are pretty much left alone, or even better, given lot's of ERP money.
There is a lot of coal lying around Cottbus, or rather Chosebuz at is called in sorbian.
The danish minority in Schleswig is growing fast, because of philo-denish people, as are a lot of native american tribes.
So if becoming a sorbian and speaking the language is a way into freedom and wealth...
Not if they did it during late WW2. I mean, they did manage to de-Germanise Prussia, IIRC. And please tell me how it actually was if the aforemented comparison was nonsensical. The problem is not only are there only 60k Sorbs, they are spread out enough that there is not a single district where they form a majority. And ethnically cleansing Lusatia has the drawbakc of even more GErman refugees streaming into what was remaining of Germany, something the Western Allies REALLY wanted to avoid.
