What if there is an Empire like the old kingdom of Georgia, consisting not only of South Caucasian Kartvelian language families like Georgian, Svan and Laz and geographically consisting of Georgia, Abkhazia, even North-Eastern Turkey with the Migrelian Laz people and parts of North Ossetia. Would be facinating, if Lazistan would be part of a Migrelian Christian Empire instead of the Ottoman. Even today, there are Laz people living in Georgia. It would require a weaker Ottoman Empire and expansion in the first place.
Looking at the wikipedia map of the old Georgian kingdom, it spaned (if you count the vassals) from the black sea to the Caspian Sea. From Ossetia-Alania and Circassia to Shah Armen. What if a major Christian Migrelian Empire under Georgian domination survives much longer than the 15th century. Could it finally withheld against a soutward Russian expansion ? Or could it move northwards and annex the North Caucasus instead of Russia ?
