Somalia if HW Bush was re-elected in 1992

Would things have gone differently in Somalia in 1993 if Bush was re-elected in 1992? If so, what would be different? Would things go better? Worse?

I think it would be messy overall, but Bush would handle it better than Clinton IMHO. The military would be better equipped for a battle of Mogadishu with Bush as President.

I wonder how this might affect US policy towards Rwanda. Would Bush have intervened to stop the genocide? If not a military intervention, might he at least have taken limited measures to end the atrocities? Given that Clinton (with the support of conservative Republicans like Bob Dole) did absolutely nothing in OTL, doing anything substantial would be an improvement.

The reason Clinton did nothing was because he didn't want another Black Hawk Down. If Mogadishu goes better then I could definitely see Bush going into Rwanda.

I agree with this. Does intervening in Rwanda mean we stay out of Bosnia though?

Would Bush withdraw troops at the same time Clinton did or would he keep troops there longer? Would the GOP hate the UN so much with one of their own being the UN's biggest proponent?

Depends, were the military's rules of engagement for the operation standard internal ones or did political considerations cause them to be modified? If the latter then a different person sitting behind the Resolute desk is an obvious point of divergence. The real shame from our timeline was that IIRC the American mission in Somalia had been mostly successful, even the mission that day which led to the Battle of Mogadishu met its main targets. If it's Bush reacting to the battle then without Clinton's baggage from Vietnam or being a Democrat he might be able to get benefit of the doubt if he decided to stay the course. I don't know enough about the man or the period to say with certainty whether he would or not though.

What course was there to stay?

It was a peacekeeping mission that was already exceeding its authority. And it's mandate was ending.
