What would Southern society be like today in a CSA victory timeline?
For some starters:
-Where would the immigrants be from, how much would they be integrated, and how much would they be liked by society?
I think, while some might think the idea a huge cliché, Mexico might be the biggest future client for incoming immigrants. The U.S. might like this, depending on their own view of immigrants, as having the C.S. as a buffer zone between the two, of course. I believe it would also depend on what sort of European nations (or other non-European nations) the C.S. aligns herself with.
-What would cuisine be like?
Something much like OTL except with perhaps more Latino influences, or whatever European nations (again, or non-European nations) the C.S. aligns herself with.
-What would cinema, literature, and televison be like?
Much like the U.S.'s, to be quite honest. It's entirely possible that the U.S. might not experience something like the Harlem Renaissance, and instead, the C.S. might get something like this. Cinema might focus more on war films, perhaps, if the C.S. is still ingrained its heritage as much as it permeates parts of the South today. Television's an even vaguer sort of thing to try to imagine; dunno, maybe a Confederate citizen even dreams it up in this TL.
-What would the economy of the CSA be like-industrial,agricultural, or service based?
Considering how it was at the time, I think it may stay a mix of agricultural and service-based. I personally see the C.S. likely being dependent on other nations for its industrialized products. This might, in theory, put them back in the U.S.'s pocket, but that's if relations are friendly...
-What would the politics be like? Any major racist parties?
-What would civil rights be like? OTL USA, or OTL South Africa?
If slavery lasts quite long, it's highly possible we might see far more prominent Socialist parties led by ethnic minorities (with whites in there too, I'm sure) than in our world or even the U.S. itself. Racist parties may emerge, but this all depends on many various factors that would be hard to determine from an ATL standpoint: how long does slavery last? Is manumission something done willingly or by outside forces beyond the C.S.'s control? It could end up far more peaceful than in OTL...or could get a lot nastier, for whatever various reasons. This is personally the biggest wildcard I think anybody faces when doing an ATL when the C.S. wins the American Civil War...
I think something else to imagine might be, if something like WWI breaks out like in OTL, who would the C.S. decide with? It might get a lot more complicated than simply going with France or Britain (if either are still in this conflict)...
