One popular theme in alternate history is to have some ancient empire survive to the present dayand conquer huge territories (maybe the whole world) in doing so. It isn't so popular on this site as it used to be since it isn't very plausible but is still seen now and then. What I am wanting to ask is say a very early civilisation (say Egypt or Sumer) was to grow survive for many milennia and eventually come to dominate the world. The question is how might cultures and people from this world be different from ours in their attitude to goverment and the world.
If enougth time passed for a unchallenged world empire without it seems to me that the existance of the empire would be seem as more or less part of humanity but at the same time it seems that it would be viewed with nothing resembling patriotism in our sense of the word. How might culture exist in such a place?
