Small question for my own TL

In my Timeline France is divided in 1801 after a civil war which started in 1796 against the revolutionist France. But I don't know how i should call the state that separated. They consider themselves as People from France and formed a republic, too, but a more US-ish Republic. I just have no idea and i dont want to have two nations, that call themselve French Republic.

Thank you for your suggestions

Until now i think i will use the United Republic of West France and if they Win the civil war they Could Be the United Republic of France

someone who speaks french here?

would République-Unie de France occidentale be right.

i used google translator and i dont trust it

As a note France calls itself the Republique Francais, rather than de France. I don't know how ingrained this is?

Best Regards

Those are interesting divisions. I am guessing it isn't meant to last? (After all the East has the main cities, and both sides will probably suffer from Occitan efforts to break away if France is failing.)

It's based on the frontline in 1801 and the civil war continues so if the East would win we would have the normal france back

This is France in September 1803 btw

Edit: The Colonies didn't change

I am slightly curious as to how a France which has - quite neatly, might I add - carved itself in two - survives when surely this would be seen as the perfect opportunity for the rest of Europe to dive in and restore the Bourbons. Also wouldn't it be a great time for the Monarchists in the Vendee (and perhaps other places - Toulon, for example?) to launch an attack of their own? They were pretty successful OTL for a ragtag band of rebels, and had widespread resort. They could even stand a chance of success with their government actively engaged fighting, essentially, itself...

As for the naming issue - I can't see a "United States of" or "United Regions of", or other "United" titles - to do so would be to deny the nature of France and the supremacy of Paris, which is a city both sides would surely hold to be sacred to the survival of their fledgling republics. France isn't the USA, the regions have their own identities but aren't autonomous, and have little desire to self-govern. Both sides would want a single powerful government in Paris, and be pretty dismissive of the importance of...practically anywhere else, really. The fact that Parisians had a tendency to look down on Frenchmen from outside the capital as being country bumpkins and essentially nobodies says it all.

As said above, I can see both sides fighting over the name "French Republic". If there was to be a difference, you might get a name based on the faction controlling the state - say "Jacobitist Republic of France" or "Girondist Republic" etc.

Before I explain the circumstances why France isn't invaded I must admit, that this Tl could includes ASB because i make a roll every year for every Great power like in nation games and i try to make realistic events, but there are still things that you would call ASB.

So for Prussia:
Prussia fought a war with Austria, to gain more influence in Germany, in 1794. On her side Prussia had Monarchist France, The Netherlands ( Which control Indonesia and South India ,the Falkland Islands, South Africa and some minor colonies in Fire Land.) , The US and Venice, while on the other side there was Russia, Poland, Austria, Denmark and a weakened Great Britain( had a short but bloody Rebellion in Scotland, which failed)

In 1798 they won but for a high price. Although this, they were able to form an much earlier but not so stable German Reich, which saw already two Bavarian revolts. So they are not able to invade France yet.

For Spain: Spain is in a struggle with Austria for North-East Italy ( Queen Maria I gain the Throne of Naples, Sicily and Spain in 1800 and is able( by have a good roll for Naples) to unite Italy, which claimed North Italy from Austria.

Great Britain: The UK has lost his name as world power 1 after a American Independence War, that involved more European Powers, that even invaded Great Britain it self. They didn't lost many colonies , but the OTL USA, but the Trust in the King was weakened and a Scottish and republican Revolt happened. Now they are still fearing revolts and don't dare to leave there home isles
