I was thinking alot lately about Benedict Arnold. His tragic tale has left a mark on American History. Had he not betrayed America he would have likely become President.
In this scenario there are several differences. The first is that the Attack on Quebec City is successful, being led by Benedict Arnold, despite the death of the other commanding Officer. The thirteen colonies essentially are able to capture Quebec(which still has quite a french aura to it) and make it the "14th colony" in the revolution. Arnold is given military command over Quebec City and the entire province, deffending it against the British. Therefore, having achieved his ultimate goal of successfully invading and occupying a province in Canada, Arnold is not likely to betray the Colonies. The next differance is the death of Thomas Jefferson in 1783, not long after the signing of the Treaty of Paris. Nathaniel Greene does not die in 1786, and lives to a ripe old age.
I want you to complete this scenario. I would like a timeline that goes up to about 1825 if possible(feel free to go beyond).
What party, if any, would Benedict Arnold join. When would he become President. What would his foreign policy be. How might his presidency impact have on the country. Would we have an 1812 like scenario, and if so would it be with Britain, or a different power.
Good Pondering
"The key to foreign policy? Make a good treaty with Russia".
