Sliders on CBS

What if the American tv show Sliders was aired on CBS rather than Fox?

Would the show have lasted longer and been a better show in general?

Thinking that CBS wouldn't allow the introduction of something violent like the kromaggs. The show would have been more mellow and stayed with an alternate history theme. Maybe it wouldn't rip off movies and change the cast.

Well aside from the strength of ANY show being in the talent involved more than the network it's on (though of course you need the network to greenlight the thing) the closest comparison I can think of on CBS was 'Early Addition.'
...at least I think it was on CBS. In case you don't remember, it was a show where a guy woke up each morning and was mysteriously given a copy of tomorrow's newspaper today.
That was pretty mellow, and the theme never changed. Actually the over-arching mystery coupled with a more serialized plot would fit in pretty well in the current market.
But I guess I'm feeling that from about the mid-90s, though really only evident more recently, television has been heading in the direction of long-form plots. You need those over-arching mysteries or drives of some sort to keep the audience coming back (or so the feeling goes in the industry.)
So they would have to come up with something, maybe not as dark as evil, man-eating Neanderthals, but something. So no, I don't think it could've survived on alt-history alone.

Early Addition was a CBS show there were some strage shows on the network back then. Sliders would do better there I think.
