Slavic settlement in Southern Italy and Sicily

Is it possible for the Slavs to settle Southern Italy and Sicily on the 11th century onwards and what would be it's effect on history?

Before, I'd say, In my Interference Timeline the Slavs invaded the South in the VIIth centry and even sacked Rome before being destroyed by an imperial counteroffensive and ultimately absorbed.
Hstorically in the X-XIthe century the Narentan trioes, who were quite active on the sea, causing Venice's intervention on behalf of the Byzantines, established small colonies in the Gargano area of Apulia (Peschici, Vieste etc.), where you can still find some Slavic toponyms and words in the local Southern Italian dialect.
