Slavery in the British Empire and a failed revolution

What might happen to the slave trade and the institution of slavery in a timeline where the American Revolution failed or never occurred?

The slave trade to North American continent would likely stop by the beginning of the 19th century. That was, after all, one of the things agreed to by the Chesapeake and southern states during the Constitutional Convention, and if they could stomach that possibility while having that much say in how they ran their affairs, they could probably stomach it when Britain cracks down on the transatlantic slave trade.

If the first Revolution had failed, another and another would have occurred until one succeeded. Good thing it worked the first try so North America got a lot more peace than Europe did.

not really. 1/3 of Americans were pro-indep, 1/3 were undecided, 1/3 were loyalist. If the first revolution failed, that 1/3 undecided would swing over to loyalist by mere virtue of being the winning side. Just like what happened IOTL except the other way 'round. With that many people against independence, another revolution seems unlikely

And a failed revolution would inevitably involve an aftermath where Britain effectively deals with the problem of governance - and those who tried to overthrow it.

You might get another revolution later under other circumstances, but not as a "once more unto the breach! This time we'll win! Really!"

It may emboldens Britain to apply her laws ore firmly.

Including later anti-slavery acts.

Which may make slavery a key subject of ACW 2,0.

It depends when and how the revolution fails. It was fairly common for British commanders to promise freedom to any slaves who ran away from American-held territory and reached British lines. At the end of the war, about 20,000 former slaves left with the British. That's only about 3% of the total slave population at the time, but in a British victory scenario I could see a much larger portion of the American slave population being freed during the war and staying free afterwards.
