Slave state free state reverse

Is it possible to have all the east coast using slaves to work in their factories and the south using freemen labor to work on farms, if so what kind of a world is it?

Not really possible since the mass labor factories only came into existence in the mid 1800s, while plantations in the South were in existence since the early days of colonization. Abolitionist values were already in the North since Independence, so I would find this almost ASB.

Also, the climate of the North was unsuited to slave-based agriculture.

Could we possibly, with an early enough POD, have had serfdom in the North (de facto, by means of possibly-hereditary indentures) and free landowning farmers in the South? On the other hand, this would probably have hindered industrialisation- see Russia for an OTL example.
