Skaneland without the Kalmar Union

What are your thoughts on the role of Skaneland if there is no Kalmar Union?

It is Danish when the Kalmar Union started, it was Danish when it ended - Sweden at this time was not in a position to challenge Denmark for it. I don't see how much could change, Kalmar Union or no Kalmar Union.

Well, unless I remember wrongly, there was a medieval king among whose titles were explicitly "king of Scania." Now as a Scanian, of course I think it would be cool was Scania over the centuries to develop into considering itself its own country, like Denmark, Sweden or Norway. It certainly would be interesting to see if an independent Scania could survive.

Nonetheless, I doubt that Scanian affairs would have much influence on anything outside of Scandinavia. Inside, however, it has shown itself remarkably capable of igniting wars.

I was thinking that since the King of Denmark was elected by the Things of the 3 lands - Jutland, Zeeland, Scaneland - how a more permanent border in the absence of a union between Denmark and Sweden could affect their allegiances.
If the Jutish nobles become more German-influenced would this antagonise the Scanish ones?
Could we see the King of Swedes & Goths adding King of the Scanians/Scanelanders?
