Sino-American relations and the USSR.

Likely pretty much the same, really. Sino-American relations, though they were strained as a result of Tiananmen Square for a time, were always fairly strong after detente. Sino-Russian, relations, on the other hand, have always been rather bitter, and border skirmishes between the two have happened even during their time of so-called alliance.

Really, it doesn't change anything essential. China still depends on the United States as an export market, China is still wary of Russia (though most certainly moreso), and will most certainly depend on the United States to act as a counter to potential Russian expansionism in East Asia.

Ahhh, so you mean that even if there was a USSR, the USA still won't cozy up to china, like what they did with India
Huh? I mean the exact opposite. China will still fall into the US sphere, and Russia will be a sad panda. In fact, Sino-American relations might get even better than they were IOTL, as now there is still a fearsome military threat on China's border (not to say that Russia still isn't, but their military capabilities are much diminished), and China will most certainly be looking for US materiel and aid. This might change however depending on the butterfly. That is, HOW does the Soviet Union survive? Does it survive, but far more liberalized? The opposite?
