Sims creator killed in Oakland fire

In 1991, Will Wright, the creator of the Sims series, lost his home in the Oakland Hills firestorm. This inspired him to create the Sims game.

The PoD is obvious: He and his family don't move fast enough, and are killed by the firestorm.

Effects, anyone?

I would have had a life a few years back instead of taking my Sims through generations of families when Sims 2 came out.

Well, the majority would be forced to live in a more boring TL.

Seriously though, it might be years after 2000 that we see games similar to The Sims, Spore, etc. released.

Where there any Sims games by 1991? If not, then this will have massive effects on what has become an important industry.

^ 1988, actually. I bought a copy of the original.

Then bought Simcity 2000 in 1995, Simcty 3000 in 1998, and......well, you're getting the idea. :D
