A Mormon-esque Taiping Rebellion would certainly be interesting, especially as Mormon theology is a lot more compatible with Hong Xiuquan's messed up ideas about fitting himself into the Godhead...
Achieving it wouldn't be beyond the realm of possibility either. Just have a Mormon missionary be called to minister to the Chinese and set himself up in Guangzhou in time to minister to Hong Xiuquan. From this missionary Hong receives a poorly translated Mormon Bible (almost all western texts were poorly translated into Chinese during this time IIRC. The Christian material Hong received in OTL was atrociously translated if memory serves. I don't see why TTL would be any different.)
Hong then uses Mormon ideas instead of pseudo-Christian ideas to shape what eventually becomes the Taiping Rebellion. This rebellion proves to be more successful than OTL and manages to subdue the Qing in the mid 19th Century. From that point forward there is a definite split between Chinese Mormonism and Western Mormonism, with the Chinese variant regarding Hong Xiuquan as the definitive prophet who succeeded Joseph Smith and with the Western American version rejecting Hong's "revelation"...
