Let's switch them around; instead of Communist-Capitalist edgy peace in Germany, have the peace in Korea. Instead of the war in Korea, have a (short) war in Germany between Communist-Capitalist sides.

Do so in the same timeline and we'll call it a combo.

The problem is, of course, that there's American, British, French, and Russian divisions in Germany. So a shooting war in Germany turns into WWIII in real short order, and goes nuclear six weeks later. Or sooner.

The Korean War was because the North Koreans were a proxy -- North Koreans in T-34s killing Americans doesn't endanger the Motherland one little bit. Russians in the exact same T-34s killing Americans is a whole 'norther story.

You'd have to have a very, very different WWII ending, that doesn't result in occupation of Germany, and does permit significant re-militarization before when it really happened OTL. And without occupation and disarmament of Germany, I doubt you'd see division of Germany.
