Shawn Kemp for Scottie Pippen?

Or, to be more accurate, Shawn Kemp and Ricky Pierce (and a draft pick) for Scottie Pippen and Bill Cartwright
The trade was supposed to happen in the off-season of 1994, after Pippen sat out the final play (drawn up for Kukoc) of the Bulls-Knicks series.

Questions -
1) Does Jordan come back from minor-league baseball to a Pippen-less Bulls, or would he sign elsewhere (especially when his contract expires in 1996)?
2) Who gets the better end of the deal?
3) Does Phil Jackson stick around when his contract expires?

1. My guess is that he would have. He still would have had a good nucleus with him, Kukoc, and Shawn Kemp as the core players. I also think that he would have stayed when his contract expired because that team would have gotten the role players around those guys to win more titles.

2. Chicago. Plain and simple. Kemp was a beast at the time(before he gained weight and fathered too many kids) and Pierce would have been solid for them coming off the bench. I don't know if Pippen would have done as well in Seattle without MJ, and Cartwright was over the hill by that time.

3. Probably not, but it depends on how this team performs in the playoffs over the next four years after the trade.

Here's a caveat: If Kemp is in Chicago, where would Rodman have ended up?

Rodman will stay in Detroit or San Antonio.

But, Scottie Pippen will be at his beast even if he's not playing in the Michael Jordan's shadow. Scottie Pippen was a great perimeter defender, while Shawn Kemp has poor Basketball IQ and he was exposed his weakness when he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1997. I doubt that Jordan can win six rings with Kemp as a Robin.

What people don't remember is that Kemp was gaining steam as the 1996 Finals went on. What started his downfall in Seattle was the Jim McIlvaine signing that summer. That probably doesn't happen in Chicago, so his career may have developed differently. Plus, if MJ could keep Rodman in line, he could keep Kemp in line.

As for Rodman, I think that he still would have left SA, although they may have kept him if the right deal never came along. If he stays during the 96-97 season, the Spurs may have won at least a few more games, and may not have been in the position to get Duncan.

As a result, Tim lands in Boston after they win the lottery, and the C's also get Ron Mercer with their other first-rounder that year. Rick Pitino ends up staying in Boston, and they eventually get more pieces around Tim, and become an Eastern powerhouse by 01-02.

A Duncan-led Boston powerhouse would have an epic rivalry with Kobe and Shaq in the early 2000s.

Pippen

Another Pippen trade that could have happened was Pippen and Luc Longley for Boston's two first rounders in 1997. Jordan nixed the deal, but what if Krause and Reinsdorf ignored him and did it anyway?
