Sertorius was a brilliant and charismatic leader who was able to unite the iberian tribes and some Roman rebels and deserters behind him. He was allied to Pontus and the Cilician pirates. Spartacus was rampaging through italy and Sertorius had defeated several Roman forces including some larger than his own. It was said he was on the verge of making a new Roman Republic in the Iberian peninsula with its very own Senate made up of migrants of Italy and the local Iberian nobility. He seemed to be successful for a time prior to his assassination. Any possibility that he could had survived and led his new Republic to victory against Rome or was he doomed to failure?
