In 24 January 41 AD Centurion Cassius Chaerea assassinated Emperor Caligula... Chaerea was part of a plot which included Praetorians and Senators which wanted the restoration of the Old Roman Republic (he also held personal grudge to Caligula for continuous insulting...)
However he didnt controlled the majority of the Praetorians who quickly elected Caligula's uncle Claudius as Emperor and he was executed as a traitor along with few others...
WI he controlled enough Praetorians and Roman Senate was restored as Supreme Governing body??
Could this renewed Republic last or some General or another Julio-Claudian family member raises a rebellion against the Senate?
