Second World War with much improved leaders

Germany: Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck.
Soviet Union / Russia: Ungern von Sternberg.

Just those two, of course, would produce a much more AH WWII, but I welcome suggestions for other WWII leaders. Not to mention timelines that could get them all together.

You gotta put a Bonaparte in France !

Or at least an Orleanist *(who is there more chance of, historically speaking, but...)

Susano's going to murder me for this*, but it's definitely Napoleon VI. Jean III seems OK, but, in absence of anything substantial to go on, Boney wins by the name.

On a similar note, somewhere in central Europe is being led by Otto Hapsburg. Austria, if possible, of course, but if we have to wedge him into Hungary so be it.

*So what else is new?

But OTL Hungary was cool enough as is! A kingdom without a king, led by an admiral without a navy (or even any sea access)!

Well, OK... but the downside is, Austria has to be a separate country form Germany now.

Are there any cool AHy americans around here? Provisional Chairman Smedley D Butler, maybe, although dragging that out for 5 years takes a bit of effort...

Shouldnt this be in ASB?

No... there's nothing that says von Lettow-Vorbeck + von Sternberg + Bonapartes + Hapsburgs = Impossible. Sure, it's implausible, but it would need to be "WWII decided by fistfight... amongst different leaders!" to be ASB.

Or... at the cost of all sanity and shoving the POD back into God knows where... von L-V is Chancellor and Otto is Kaiser of the Second (Third? First?) reich. :D

(WWI POD, just... something happens to the Hohemzollerns.)

Well, this would make Nietzsche (the AH.com member) froth at the mouth, so I guess its a good thing :D

OK... CP victory! Spanish flu kills off the Hohenzollerns! Anschluss (except backwards)! Third Republic falls! Bonaparte restoration! Sternberg somehow manages to claw his way back to Moscow! Huey Long gets elected at some point!

Now we just need a Brit and a Japanese guy...

Britain is tricky, since we already had an eccentric, somewhat absurd and yet somehow extremely awesome politician with crazy gimmicks at the helm...

Also, China has been unfairly neglected yet again. Clearly, the Dragon Throne must be restored, but Puyi needs a chief minister. Zhāng Xuéliáng was pretty cool.

As IBC says, Churchill is already a brilliant eccentric weirdo, so we need someone even crazier. I nominate Thande's hero, whoi sounds just deliciously mad - and great fun!

WWI: Despite all his wounds in the war, de Wiart said at the end, "Frankly I had enjoyed the war..."[6][page needed]
...
His one active command in World War II was not a success, but the blame could not be put on him in this cauldron of politics. As de Wiart said about the campaign "...war and politics seem bad mixers, like port and champagne. But if it wasn't for politicians we wouldn't have wars, and I, for one, should have been done out what for me is a very agreeable life."[citation needed]

Well I would say that wiping out the entire Hohenzollern dynasty including all dependant lines is rather ASB without having a meteorites crash into Germany!

Of course, Spanish Flu etc could wipe out the main line, even though that's rather a stretch considering you've got six sons and their family, and one brother and his sons and theirs, before you even get to the cousins !

Best Regards
