second tier iconic U.S. history images from the 1960s?

Time Magazine's self-rebuttal never quite attained the same iconic status as the original.
1) We can include as sub-iconic images technologies or social trends which became bigger in the 1970s, such as the growth of both Christian evangelicalism and various New Age beliefs and practices,

2) We can also include photos from the ‘60s of techs, trends, etc., which did not take off as expected.

Here's an example: the short-lived Christian Left aka "Jesus Freaks." They were anti-war, preached peace and stood for human rights. Once Vietnam ended, these "Christian Hippies" faded between the woodwork and the mainstream along with the rest of the sixties counter-culture. They were a far cry from the Christian Right that would emerge in the late seventies and beyond.
