Second Crimean War in 2014?

As we all know, Ukraine surrendered the Crimean peninsula to Russia without a fight. This , at least in my opinion was due to the sheer chaos post revolution Ukraine was in and also apparently a cyber attack on Ukrainian government servers and communications networks which hindered the ability of ukraine to respond.

So, what if, for whatever reason, Ukraine was able to quickly mobilise it's forces in Crimea and secure the crossings between mainland Ukraine and Crimea as well as launch an operation to retake control of the Crimean parliament from the "little green men" and block incoming Russian forces advancing from their base in Sevastopol as they headed for Simferopol.

How would Russia react to Ukraine resisting? Would they back down or step up their fight?
