Scottish King James II Isn't Killed in an Explosion in 1460

If my memory is correct, Scottish James II was set to have a long, prosperous, and productive reign before he unexpectedly died at a young age as a result of getting killed in an explosion (in 1460).

Anyway, what if that explosion in 1460 didn't happen and thus Scottish King James II would have lived for an additional several decades?

Any thoughts on this?
