Scoop Jackson, elected president in 1976.

Scoop Jackson indeed ran for president in 1976, but of course he was defeated by Jimmy Carter. Lets say Jackson gets full labor support (in OTL it was weak because labor thought Hubert Humphrey would run), and manages to defeat Carter. But who would jackson choose as a VP?

Id like to think that Ford would still be nominated over Reagan with no butterflies. So now we have a Moderate Republican versus A New Deal Democrat with appeal to labor, Dixiecrats, and liberals, i say easy win for Jackson.
So here's the question: What happens now? How does Jackson reply to the economy, the Soviets in Afghanistan, would Jackson get reelected? Could we see a different Democratic Party?

I say yes, but who knows?
