save Nazi Germany from Bankruptcy

Indeed. Have to love a regime where a (failed) chicken farmer, traveling wine salesmen and a disillusioned painter not only manage to get elected, but eventually reach the highest levels of government, making foreign policy and acting on said policies.

I would say that Ribbentrop seemed to have a decent head on his shoulders, much more than some of them did. Anybody that manages to sign a major treaty with an enemy country like that shouldn't be overlooked.

OTOH he was the one who was betting the French and British wouldn't go to war for Poland.

I'd be reluctant to assign him the credit for this. The pact was just a thing whose time has come. Both sides wanted it and we all know who called shots on both sides (hint - not the notional signatories who'd lent their names to the pact). In effect he was a rather incompetent foreign minister who sc*ewed up the relations with UK and generally f*cked up everything he touch.

This is true, but he strikes me as being someone who could realize he fucked up. I wonder, how do you think he would do if put in charge of something, like say the SS? His son was a member of the Waffen-SS, so it's not too far-fetched I don't think.

I do remember somebody on this forum came up with an alternative to answering the Jewish question, instead of full-blown genocide. Since the nazis couldn't have rised to power without their racial and political agenda, the best they can do is tone it down considerably.

Instead of killing Jews and other "untermensh," they can force them to accept Aryanization or leave the country, kinda like apartheid in South Africa. They can be granted Honorary Aryan status if they denounce the Jewish conspiracy and no longer practice their faith(at least not in public). Scientists, doctors, and other professionals would be spared(in other words, we'll tolerate you if you help us win the war).

I'm sure since many Jews were already culturally assimilated, they would go along with it as long as they were left alone. Many would probably leave for Palestine though, but out of protest/frustration rather than fear.

As far as World War II goes. I can still see it happening, but with a different twist. I can't see Nazi Germany become the juggernaut that it became without the war. Thats how they made their money.

They can prolong the war for a few more years by guiding the wasted manpower of the concentration camps to using the zyklon gas to destroy Soviet crops. The bodies that they used for transporting those to Auschwitz can be used for arms. And if they're going to use POW as slave labor, at least feed them adequaely, you can get more mileage of out it.

Problem with that was, the Hitler IOTL was too much of a gambler and a risk-taker to think all this through and plan for the long term. What brought him to power also lead to his downfall. He'd need his generals(and possibly Goering), help filter his ideas to keep them on top.

As far as Goering running Nazi Germany goes, although he was well-organized and more rational than Hitler was, he wasn't that good of a war strategest and as charismatic, though he could've been more than a "yes man" to awful Adolf.

Without Hitler Goering's worst proclivities would be unleashed. Goering was a kleptocrat of the worst sort who had no long term goals outside of what Hitler wanted; without Hitler driving the economy toward an end goal however inefficiently through Goering, Goering on his own would just live large with he sycophants rather than work toward a goal and keep the economy churning.

In this case,is easy that the Army kill also he,and take the power.
So this is the end of nazist experiment.

Well, if the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact gets signed as it did in OTL, why couldn't the Germans get their oil from Baku?

Germany intentionally planning on not going to war would probably drive Stalin away from the idea. Of course the Germans could always go 'gotcha!' but even if Stalin doesn't quietly tear it up the Germans are still left supplying him with huge interest free loans in the middle of economic chaos. Versailles all over again in other words.

I realized after I posted that that Germany doesn't have the money or any means really, to negotiate for Soviet Oil.

OTL they bartered industrial goods and traded favors, as well taking a huge debt, incidentally coming due around July 1941 :)wink:wink:). They tarried as much as they could on delivery on most stuff.
