Saturday Morning AU Blocks

I'm back! And this time, I'll see to the conclusion of Mickey Mania.

Fall 2014:
Mickey Mania:
3:00: Phineas and Ferb

5:00: Gravity Falls
5:30: Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja

10:00: The 7D
10:30: Disney's Descendants
11:00: Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero
11:30: Rapunzel's Tangled Adventures

-Beverly Hills Chihuahuas was another cancelled pitch. In our timeline, it was a show meant for Disney Junior. But in this timeline, the fact that Tad Stones would be at the helm would make it more than preschool-friendly.
-Star Darlings is added to Disney Bites to add some female viewers to the show.
-Descendants becomes an animated series, rather than a live-action film franchise. This makes it easier to produce, and easier to make characters for.
-Rapunzel's Tangled Adventures is an earlier version of Tangled: The Series. It still takes place between the movie and Tangled Ever After, but with four seasons instead of three.

-Sadly, due to the success of Disney+, this shall be the final year for Mickey Mornings, as the animated spectrum of Disney moves to that service.

I'm back! And this time, I'll see to the conclusion of Mickey Mania.
Dang.

But can we get Jetix lineups as well? This can expand to more than just SatAM. Just not full-on 24/7 channels.

Wait? Cuphead as a Disney series? How'd that happen?

And can we PLEASE get more Marvel toons?

I'm surprised Maya and the Three, Kung Fu Space Punch and a Book of Life series aren't on here, nor is El Tigre.

That's sad, but that's how the cookie crumbles.

So what happens after? Would SatAM animated premieres continue, but under normal branding?

Overall, this has been great!

But can we get Jetix lineups as well? This can expand to more than just SatAM. Just not full-on 24/7 channels.
I doubt it. This was tough to do, so I'll just say that MGM, Marvel, and Star Wars get their own nights on Toon Disney and Jetix, while Disney and Pixar get the big slots on Disney Channel and Disney Junior.
Cool. But what's Star Darlings?
I thought it would be too small for its own show, but just the right amount of creativity for Disney Bites.
And a Beverly Hills Chihuahuas series was really planned?
Yes.
What with it getting a trilogy of movies in the tradition of the Air Buddies franchise, I wouldn't imagine this not happening while Atlantis and Treasure Planet get their shows.
And that's cool that Descendants is a series.
Yes. Also, Z-O-M-B-I-E-S remains as a film trilogy, but spins off into an animated series in 2024. A lot like OTL, in fact.
Cool, but shouldn't Penn Zero and Randy Cunningham be a part of Jetix?
Well, there's nothing that says they can't share shows.
Nice. And I wonder why The OWCA Files didn't get a FULL series.
Probably because they didn't want to return to established characters like Perry or Doof. Ironic, considering how Dr. Doof is now Disney's answer to The Red Guy from Cow and Chicken.
Wait? Cuphead as a Disney series? How'd that happen?
If you recall, I mentioned how Disney called Studio MDHR for an animation license, which resulted in actual Cuphead shorts starting in 2015, made in co-production with MDHR and Disney. I'd imagine this would be a dream come true for them.
And can we PLEASE get more Marvel toons?
Absolutely. I can't imagine us not getting more Marvel toons in this timeline.
Cool, but I think we could fill that 9:30 slot with something else.
Well, I thought it has earned an extra half-hour on Saturdays by that point, being one of the longest-running shows that year not on weekdays.
Nice, but why is the true hits, like Amphibia and The Owl House on last? Is it because they're more mature and serialized?
Yes, and because they're original concepts that could benefit from an early evening strip.
Cool, but what's Varian and the Seven Kingdoms?
I'm surprised Maya and the Three, Kung Fu Space Punch and a Book of Life series aren't on here, nor is El Tigre.
Well, I was hoping they would be on either Cartoon Network, or a more benevolent Netflix. This would be due to the effect these lineups would have, being very successful since the 90s.
Cool, but there's two more slots we could fill......
I didn't have the creativity, or the ingenuity, to fill those two slots, so I just gave some of the movie-based shows some extra time.
That's sad, but that's how the cookie crumbles.
Yeah. But without Fox, the service can launch sooner.
So what happens after? Would SatAM animated premieres continue, but under normal branding?
Yes.
Overall, this has been great!
Thank you.

Remember when ABC tried to make their Saturday Morning block look more like TGIF? I've got better schedules to support that.

Fall 1991:

-Beetlejuice's final SatAM season airs on Fox Kids instead, as does the official debut of Tiny Toon Adventures on Fox stations. The former was already on Fox's weekday lineup, while the latter would come over there a year later IOTL.
-Instead of running an all-sitcom block, NBC partners with DiC. They would have partnered up with ABC had it not been for Disney's exclusivity contract being drawn up this season.
-Not only that, but Schoolhouse Rock! comes back to ABC a year sooner.

Fall 1992:

ABC's More Cool TV
8:00: The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

10:30: Stunt Dawgs
11:00: Big Nate: The Series
11:30: Where's Waldo?
12:00: Saved by the Bell
12:30: NBA Inside Stuff

-The revival of Land of the Lost does not get a second season, due to priorities.
-Due to the influx of Disney cartoons on ABC, CBS gives Garfield and TMNT 90-minute slots each this year. The impact of that will not be covered here.
-Camp Candy returns to air its third and final season, while Wish Kid gets its second season made.
-Did you know that Nintendo wanted Captain Falcon to be the mascot of the SNES? Yeah, if history serves, F-Zero: The Series is just practice for their Sonic the Hedgehog days.
-Captain Zed and the Zee Zone makes its US debut.
-Saved by the Bell goes back to half an hour, but it doesn't get any spinoffs to make up.
-Despite being riddled with DiC cartoons, Big Nate does get picked up from Lee Mendelson Productions.

9:30: Super Dave: Daredevil for Hire
10:00: All-New Dennis the Menace
10:30: Hurricanes
11:00: Double Dragon
11:30: Where on Earth Is Carmen Sandiego?
12:00: Big Nate: The Series
12:30: NBA Inside Stuff

-Cro and Tales from the Cryptkeeper air on CBS, known by 90s kids outside of Garfield and TMNT as ABC's junkyard.
-ABC Weekend Special takes an early end, but at least they'd have exceeded 100 episodes by 1993.
-CityKids sticks around, due to Disney's deal with Jim Henson Productions without owning the Muppets.
-Bill Nye airs on ABC to fill the educational quota, but A Disney Moment fills in the interstitial quota by airing a classic cartoon each week.
-Big Nate gets another season, only for it to be their last. At least it got made at all.
-In this timeline, Sonic the Hedgehog runs for more seasons, with its first season being the most episodic. Also, Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts are low-ranked comic reliefs in said first season, only to meet their ends in the second season.

-ABC finally uses the One Saturday Morning moniker for their block, thus leaving the More Cool TV name behind.
-Cro moves to Nick Jr. this season, being as big a hit as Gullah Gullah Island was in its debut.
-Hurricanes only lasts for 13 episodes in this timeline, while Big Nate ends its run completely.

I shall tackle the continuing rearranging of ABC and NBC tomorrow.

Remember when ABC tried to make their Saturday Morning block look more like TGIF? I've got better schedules to support that.

Fall 1991:

ABC's More Cool TV:
8:00: Land of the Lost (1991)
8:30: Hammerman
9:00: The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
9:30: The Bod Squad
9:35: Schoolhouse Rock!
9:40: Darkwing Duck
10:10: ABC Nutrition Series
10:15: One to One
10:20: TaleSpin
10:50: Posse Philosophy
10:55: Time for Timer
11:00: Slimer! and the Real Ghostbusters
11:30: The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show
12:00: The Pirates of Dark Water
12:30: ABC Weekend Special

NBC Saturday Morning (Last Season)
8:00: Chip and Pepper's Cartoon Madness
8:30: Yo Yogi!
9:00: Captain N and the New Super Mario World
9:30: Space Cats
10:00: Wish Kid
10:30: ProStars
11:00: Saved by the Bell
12:00: Saturday Morning Videos
12:30: NBA Inside Stuff

8:30: The Little Mermaid: The Series
9:00: Darkwing Duck
9:30: Schoolhouse Rock!
9:35: America's Funniest Kids
9:40: Goof Troop
10:10: ABC Nutrition Series
10:15: Posse Philosophy
10:20: Raw Toonage
10:50: Time for Timer
10:55: Zack of All Trades
11:00: The Addams Family (1992)
11:30: Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa
12:00: The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show
12:30: ABC Weekend Special

NBC's Incredible World of DiC:
8:00: Camp Candy
8:30: Wish Kid
9:00: F-Zero: The Series
9:30: Captain Zed and the Zee Zone
10:00: Super Dave: Daredevil for Hire

Fall 1993:

ABC's More Cool TV:
8:00: Bill Nye the Science Guy
8:30: The Little Mermaid: The Series
9:00: Goof Troop
9:30: Schoolhouse Rock!
9:35: America's Funniest Kids

12:30: The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show

NBC's Incredible World of DiC:
8:00: Madeline
8:30: Where's Waldo?
9:00: Sonic the Hedgehog

Fall 1994:

ABC's One Saturday Morning:
8:00: Bill Nye the Science Guy

Nice.

So, how would the other networks look?

I'm back.

9:00: The ABC Sunday Night Movie (Fall) / Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (Spring)
10:00: The ABC Sunday Night Movie (Fall) / Roseanne (reruns) (Spring)
10:30: The ABC Sunday Night Movie (Fall) / Home Improvement (reruns) (Spring)

-Bugs Bunny, Tweety, and Free Willy move to Kids WB this year, thus giving Disney more time on ABC.
-The interstitials move to the non-Disney programming at the end.
-Dumb and Dumber moves to TBS, TNT, and Cartoon Network, joining the likes of 2 Stupid Dogs and Dexter's Laboratory in its animated history.
-Sing Me a Story with Belle adds more educational value to the SatAM block.
-Meanwhile, the Jim Henson shows that aired on TGIF IOTL air on Sunday nights instead, thus preventing their base-breaking moment and giving Muppets Tonight a legitimate chance. They still move to Disney Channel in the Fall of 1996, but its first start would still be an improvement.
-The New Adventures of Madeline is just the third season of the original show ITTL.
-Rimba's Island moves to Fox Kids, while Sailor Moon becomes a big hit on NBC. Also airing on Fox are Siegfried and Roy, and Hypernauts. Neither of them last to the fall.

-By this point, ABC is nothing but Disney on Saturday mornings. With the slight exception of Science Court.
-Fudge moves to NBC instead of CBS, helped in part by DiC's relative lack of "new" shows.

-Bear in the Big Blue House covers the "cuddly Disney educational bear" quota that reruns of Pooh would have done.
-Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show nearly aired on ABC, but it was decided to move it to Disney Channel and their weekend afternoon lineup.
-Science Court will be the last non-Disney show on the block for a while.
-By this point, NBC owns a majority stake in DiC Entertainment, and plans to keep them around.

11:30: Extreme Dinosaurs
12:00: Mummies Alive!
12:30: NBA Inside Stuff

-Schoolhouse Rock finally ends its run on ABC, after roughly 20-25 years on the block.
-Bill Nye the Science Guy moves to Playhouse Disney. That block on Disney Channel is also where you'll find Mopatop's Shop, The Hoobs, and Animal Jam.
-Bear in the Big Blue House would be the last Jim Henson show on broadcast television, in fact.
-Sailor Moon moves to Toonami and gets more mature in the process, while Sonic Underground is the result of DiC taking a year off from making a Sonic cartoon.

Fall 1999:

ABC's One Saturday Morning:

-PB&J Otter gets reran on ABC after premiering on Playhouse Disney a year ago.
-This will be the final ABC season with interstitials, being replaced with more commercials in 2000.
-Madeline's final episodes air this year.
-Universal and DreamWorks start entering the block's run, by poaching Woody Woodpecker and Toonsylvania from Fox Kids and making Jurassic Park: Chaos Effect a reality.

Nice!

So, would the Crash and Spyro cartoons be made?

Also, is there a chance of a NBC/DiC network?

Also, since they don't have DiC, I'd assume Toon Disney is either butterflied out or delayed.

And what happens to Saban?

And can't DiC dub more anime? Knights of the Zodiac would have ACTUALLY worked if they got it in 1995........

And that's cool that Universal and DreamWorks comes to NBC.

What about 4Kids? What about Fox post-2001?

Thanks.
So, would the Crash and Spyro cartoons be made?
Considering how DiC's output was in the 2000s, maybe.
Also, is there a chance of a NBC/DiC network?
Quite so, yes.
Also, since they don't have DiC, I'd assume Toon Disney is either butterflied out or delayed.
I would hope it just gets delayed. But for now, it could just share a network with Touchstone reruns before it becomes an all-animation channel.
And what happens to Saban?
I would probably have Fox buy Saban and rely heavily on Power Rangers and Digimon, plus what would become Jetix, now called Vortexx.
And can't DiC dub more anime? Knights of the Zodiac would have ACTUALLY worked if they got it in 1995........
Best I can do is have DiC make a better Knights of the Zodiac dub, complete with proper marketing. Of course, a change in the network could also help.
And that's cool that Universal and DreamWorks comes to NBC.
Well, I'd still want NBC and Universal to merge, which is why I did that.
What about 4Kids? What about Fox post-2001?
After 2001, Fox buys Saban and makes it their children's wing a la Nickelodeon Animation Studios or Warner Bros. Animation. As for 4Kids, I can see them help bring a 24/hour Toonami channel to fruition, for better and for worse.

You're welcome.
Considering how DiC's output was in the 2000s, maybe.

Quite so, yes.

I would hope it just gets delayed. But for now, it could just share a network with Touchstone reruns before it becomes an all-animation channel.
Cool!

Ok. So we get Vortexx earlier by Fox?

So, would Disney still use the Jetix name when they get in the action field?

Well, I'd still want NBC and Universal to merge, which is why I did that.
Cool. Maybe a Cartoon Network that cares, or as a launch show for the Nothin' But Cool Network???????

I SWEAR TO GOD THAT I'M GONNA FIND A BETTER NAME FOR THE NETWORK!!!!!!
After 2001, Fox buys Saban and makes it their children's wing a la Nickelodeon Animation Studios or Warner Bros. Animation.
Cool!

So will there also be schedules for Fox Kids as well?
As for 4Kids, I can see them help bring a 24/hour Toonami channel to fruition, for better and for worse.
EDIT: I tried adding a GIF as my reaction, but yeah...........

I'd rather 4Kids make their own channel with the help of some others.

Ok. So we get Vortexx earlier by Fox?
Actually, yes. Given how DeMarco felt about Saban poaching the English rights to Escaflowne, I wouldn't be surprised if their choice of what to name the block came from ripping off Toonami's name ITTL.
So, would Disney still use the Jetix name when they get in the action field?
Yes they would, and this timeline's Jetix would have Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!, W.I.T.C.H., and Yin Yang Yo! as bigger mainstays in a Power Rangers-less lineup.
Cool. Maybe a Cartoon Network that cares, or as a launch show for the Nothin' But Cool Network???????

I SWEAR TO GOD THAT I'M GONNA FIND A BETTER NAME FOR THE NETWORK!!!!!!
How about we call it NBC Kids in 1998, call the SatAM block that in 2000, and make Knights of the Zodiac air on both facets of NBC Kids in its 2003 premiere? That way, kids can be introduced to the show on broadcast TV, and get the full experience on cable.
So will there also be schedules for Fox Kids as well?
Probably not. Sorry.

What would have been the reaction?

I hear you, but hear me out: If 4Kids was a component of a Toonami channel, we could have Cartoon Network put more effort into their own animation studios. Like, imagine if Toonami's all-day lineup had Funimation, Viz, Bandai, Geneon, and 4Kids. Being in the same league as those guys may force The Summit Media Group to step up their game, or at least give their mature licenses to their friendly rivalry competitors.

Well, I only thought of the name because of that old CW block.

Nice.

Oh.........Okay.
What would have been the reaction?
A GIF of someone lying in bed, but their soul or ghost or whatever leaving their body because they're shocked........

Kinda like the one where Pooh's ghost leaves his body if you've seen that GIF.

Well.

Color me surprised!

That is also a valid reason.

That doesn't bode well to your feelings on that, doesn't it?
Well.

Color me surprised!
But what color is surprise? (/s)
