(saint) Helena the henotheist

What if the mother of Emperor Constenteine (can never spell his name right) was a worshiper of Jupiter et. al.?

Would Constentine think of making the Roman Empire Christian?

Please learn history before posting here. Constantine did not make the Roman Empire Christian, Theodosius did.

Don't be so harsh on him. It was Constantine's opening of the Empire to Christianity through his own tolerant and preferential policy which led to Theodosius' state conversion in the first place.

Possibly. The problem is, a lot of what we know about Helena is either hagiography or opposition research. She may have been a pious Christian from her earliest childhood and converted her son to her faith, or not. Constantine may have genuinely exerienced a dam ascus moment, or claimed to have done so. It is also possible that he first made that claim for political reasons and then came to believe it. Memory is an amazing thing. Personally, I think it is less likely without the influence of a Christian mother, but it is certainly far from impossible. A lot of people, some of them fairly improbable candidates on the face of it, became Christians at the time.

She likely did engage in the worship of Jupiter, as almost certainly Constantine did. Though his preferred God was previously Apollo, before and maybe even after his conversion.

I mean the one where he say the chi-rho (or in some versions, a cross) in the sky and heard a voice that said "conquer by this"

Well, that's the problem. There are several accounts of what happened, and the conensed version is just that, condensed, not necessarily correct.

He apparently saw a series of x's surrounding the sun, which can be attributable to a real meteorological phemomana, he claimed it was a sign from Apollo. Later when the Christians got him he added the 'p' completing it and making it that chi-ro thing.
