Sailing sloops

I have a question about 18th Century Sloops of War, say one like HMS Resolution. What was the maximum speed for such a ship?

Google-fu says that the Armerican USS Boston (Sloop-of-war from 1825) had a top speed of 8-11 knots (depending on where you look)

Probably very dependent on "in what winds, and with what load" - the former especially means that "top speed" is not a very meaningful figure.

Which navy? Royal Navy sloops tended to be slower than Mediterranean vessels or coast-wise vessels eg USA. Because of the need to be heavier built for deep ocean voyages and conditions in the North Sea and Bay of Biscay.

About 10 knots probably in ideal conditions, but privateers and (especially) slavers could be 3 or 4 knots faster . Again, in ideal conditions, which were,t so common.

Y'welcome. Bear in mind also, ships then weren't standardized. So there would be big differences one to another. And a foul hull could easily be 3-4 knots slower than the same ship when clean
