the war in benin/dahomey, was before 1900 so it cant be placed here... but if the dahomey used better tactics instead of charging with clubs into rifle fire, and actually put to use the warious military equipment the king bough of the germans and duch such as machineguns, to stop french charges, we could asume it would take the french another few years to control dahomey completely, so you go into the post 1900 timeline(or just postpone the final war till 1900), seeing as the dahomey army especially the all female elite troops were relatively well armed and well disciplined, and the french used standard european tactics, one could hipotetise a long guerrilla war, with the french eventually loosing, especially with the germans funneling manlichers and mashineguns to the guerilas, to fight the french especially in the context of WWI
this would make for a indipendent african nation, ruled by a relativelly stabile militarist monarchy with a well armed and experienced army wich is then a presedan for the rest of french africa and a generaly good start
also this would possibly mean a interesting historical twist in afro-germanic relations
