Russo-Japanese war prolonged

I was wondering, provided the Japanese manage to still sink the Russian pacific and atlantic fleets and the Russians decide not to make peace would the IJA have been capable of capturing the Russian east?

Vladivostok would be my main question, as a major Russian city would the IJA have been able to take it and force the Russians to surrender?

Captain2,

First, the Search Function. This topic has been discussed repeatedly and as recently as last quarter.

Second, Japan was bankrupt by the end of the war and could only raise foreign loans at ruinous interest rates. That's the reason they accepted Roosevelt's mediation offer.

It's also the reason Russia did as well in the peace talks as they did despite losing every battle. Witte knew Japan was out of money and kept the talks dragging on until Japan caved in at the negotiating table.

The Japanese would have been crushed had the war dragged on. The Russians had just gathered an Army vastly more powerful than the (exhausted)IJA and where about the launch a counteroffensive, when the Tsar called a halt.
