Russia without Putin?

Without Putin crushing the oligarchs Russia might be in the same kind of shit state they were in the 90s. I think that is the main point. If theoligarchs keep their hands on the realm Russia will have little chance to improve it's situation.

Not saying the man is without flaws but he did stabilize the political system in Russia which has been very beneficial to Ivan on the street. There is a reason the man has consistent high approval ratings in Russia you know.

Look at Ukraine to see where Russia would have been - indecisive foreign and economic policies, chaotic elections, corruption even more rampant than in todays Russia...

Most probable that the communists under Gennady Zyzganov would make a come back in one of the elections on the anti - oligarch platform. He was the most serious contender for president since 2000's.

Yeah, Yeltsin barely pulled out a win against Zyuganov in 96. I really doubt him/his successor could've done the same in 2000.

In think that if the communist would become too powerful, there would be an attempt by the oligarchs to have the amy crush them. Kinda like what happened in 1992.

The only reason why Putin succeeded was that people underestimated him at first. They expected a pliable puppet and they didn't count on a rather ruthless, yet charismatic technocrat.

Yes i said charismatic. Unlike all the screaming you hear, Putin would hands down win any election in Russia, regardless. Reason is that he has a proven track record of improving the life of the average Russian.
