RTWWI: To keep the Romans at bay, the Britannic Celts institute a blockade of Europe.

Notably, all of the baltics, western europe save the Med. They also have a full stack (I'm basing this off a RTW game) of Large Boats blockading the straits of Gibralter.

They settle the island and turn it into a major naval base, with which to rebuild ships.

Game Backstory:

Started in 262BC and got trade agreements with everybody, even the Numidians in 240. Greeks (?!?!) a year later. My diplomats crossed all of Europe and back. In 246BC I went to war over my European province. It was a long 60 years of seting up a fort just to the west. (See: http://steamcommunity.com/id/Mopeyennui/screenshot/560902699816580215?tab=public) As you can see, to keep initial devastation from attacking the settlement, I set up a fort to take attacks from the Germans (although the pic wa taken when I had a temporary peace.)

I was allied with the Julii, for they would not trade without a alliance. Bad mistake, they took in the Gauls in 180, and the western Germanics too. Problem is I was happy the Germans were gone, but the Romans took the city - I couldn't get forces to escape. I panicked, and built up a navy of Large Boats, and three per fleet. Each fleet blockaded a port near me, and I kept building them. In 225 I blockaded the Baltics fully, and soon after I blockaded the former Gauls. A few years later the Spanish, and a decade further, I blockaded the Pillars of Herakles.

The blockade doesn't stop - I'm up to 107 AD. Also, I got over half a million gold (in RTW terms, suffice it to say, I'm bloody wealthy.)

What long term effects does this have - what would survive until modern day? What would the long term effects of Europe be of being such blockaded?

Each port gets three Large Boats in it's blockade fleet, the Med gets a intermittant 9 or 12 boats, but this fluxuates with the ever battling Piratical forces in the region. (Damn gnats! It's like a second Roman Navy.) Occasional Julii ships appear for no discernable reason (...I don't know why... I do blockade the Med...) in the waters surrounding Europe. The baltics stay quiet save occasional Piratical activity.

I'm asking for what myths and legends and local records would survive for archeologists in the future to find. Also speculate on the Britannic effects as well. (Bored of the game. Want something to think about as I coast until the end of the game. (Yes I'm going to pay for a mod so I can continue this in BI. It's kinda amusing. - I also want to see if I can see what happens!)

The Britanians as early super Vikings that decimated the Mediterranean Economy . Coming in long boats , making landings , sacking settlements all over Europe , North Africa and the Levant . The Roman Empire is strangled at Childbirth - its unity was facilliated by the Med , and with the Med a Pirate infested sea , the Roman Republic is unable to mantain a foothold in Asia Minior.

Eventually , the Parthians might possibly conquer Asia Minor , and Ptolemaic Egypt, recreating the Achaemenid Empire in full. Maybe..... or perhaps its feudal structure might have prevented this.

Actually , come to think of it , this could make a very interesting time-line making the Code Geass verse historical setup ... plausible. Aside from the fact that Super Viking Celtic Britanians may very well be ASB.

P.s If you take this to BI , give yourself the horde option , leave Britain and Migrate across the seas , sacking every costal settlement from Frisia , all the way to Campus Roxolani.

P.p.s : I suggest you spend the rest of the game exterminating all coastal settlements - multiple times. And perhaps taking Crete and Rhodes as a Launch Pad for your continuous rampage of piracy.

It is an interesting scenario for a game, but if the Celts had tried it in real life they would have been crushed by the Navies of the more southern powers. Then, just to make sure it doesn't happen again the Southern powers will probably invade the island itself and kill everyone they find.

All of this is assuming the Celts in Britain can overcome their differences long enough to undertake a project this size. So, ASB.
