"I'm Terribly Sorry, but that will no longer do"
[Stretching the idea of RP even further than the DBWI threads, this thread idea instead goes into a real historical situation but with people taking their own views about history as its happening]
After Prime Minister Chamberlain went to Munich to personally meet with the German Chancellor, Mr. Hitler has promised to avoid military action without further discussion, and the Czechs have reluctantly accepted plebiscites on the Sudetenland.
Now, however, Mr. Hitler seems to have raised his demands. He is demanding the occupation of the entire Sudetenland with German troops within one weeks time.
I am saddened and disappointed by this sudden change in posturing--I had hoped that the German Chancellor was a generally reasonable person interested in the welfare of Sudeten Germans--as the Runcilman Report indicates are indeed suffering abuses from the Czech government. Now, however, it seems that our Prime Minister's valiant pursuit for peace might have been a total failure.
The Terrible Tragedy of the Great War scarred the very fabric of Europe--is there any way to avoid a second tragedy? The War in Spain has introduced bombing helpless civilians as a means of war.
With these sorts of terrible acts in mind, how do you feel PM Chamberlain should respond to this sudden act of bad faith?
