Nominate up to five former 20th C. PMs/Presidents who were strategically minded. Not Wilson, he's tactical.
1) Mackenzie King: Owner of the record. Master of double-speak. And much more.
2) Richard Nixon: Southern Strategy, rat******* in 1972. Pulling off a Connally nomination in '76 would've been the crown jewel. Bonus, because no one saw the Dixie Strategy coming, or tried to prevent it.
3) Ferdinand Marcos: No opponents for most of the time, and got B. Aquino to support NS and ML. Franco out of uniform.
4) Silvio Berlusconi: Complete domination of Italian politics, defacto PM-for-Life. Thanks to bipartisan requests for Mafia financial assistance nearly twenty years ago. Most prominent Italian leader since Mussolini.
5) Stephen Harper- give him credit for Unite the Right. Otherwise Mr. Dithers would still be PM.
