What if the assassination attempt on Reagan, in March 1981 (not long after he took Office), was successful. Considering Reagan wasn't in Office overly long to ensure much change in US policies, whether they be foreign or domestic, who would replace Reagan, at least for his OTL first term (ok presumably Bush snr, but who knows...), not to mention his second?

And far more importantly, what policy direction would this alternate President(s) send the USA?

Plus how would world history be altered as a result?
