Romanian revolution and Ceausescu What Ifs

Romanian revolution and Ceausescu's execution happened 20 years ago, so it's good time to what ifs related to this topic.

How could Ceausescu have stayed in power and Romania communist longer than in reality? How would this have influenced to other communist countries?

What would have happened if Ceausescu had died naturally, e.g. just 1989, before the beginning of the actual revolution?

What would have happened if Ceausescu had escaped e.g. to USSR (would this have been the most natural escaping place)?

A recent BBC documentary has suggested, with very good reasoning and sound evidence, that the overthrow of Ceausescu was actually a Securitate coup. The 'fighting' between troops loyal to the regime and revolutionaries was staged and the civil protests carefully orchestrated by the secret police and army.
The leaders of the coup became the subsequent government and today, 20 years later, the top 100 richest people in Romania were all senior communist officials in 1989.
So, maybe Ceausescu should have paid off different guys.
