Romania a communist monarchy?

When Romania found itself inside the Soviet sphere it still had its monarchy. Is it possible the Soviets could have kept him just under their control?

Only at the most extreme will Stalin will allow this cause the monarch would be higher in the Romanian goverment than him and Stalin doesn't like anyone who is more powerful than him.

No. In both Bulgaria and Romania, monarchy could be tolerated only in the very short run during the transition to "peoples' democracy." It was just not ideologically acceptable to the Communists.

As a Romanian, I have to answer positively. Yes, it would have been possible, even if a stretch.
Had King Mihai I not angered the Soviets with his Royal Strike they might have kept him as a puppet. Stalin had King Mihai I in high regard and even had him decorated.

Let's say that if everything went smooth and King Mihai I was super compliant there would have been some 25% chance of him keeping the throne.
Of course, he might have been deposed later by the autochtonous communists (after the Red Army left the country).

People's Kingdom? It's a possibility to be sure, however the concept of then king would have to be propagandized to be an "every man"

The entire "golden blood" outlook would have to be dashed, instead posters would have to show images of the royals as standard people.

Throw away the crown, Sovereign, and pick up a tool of labor.

Of course, that requires a completely different Mihai. He is no murderer.

Salvedor Dali sent a letter congratulations Ceausecesus on his choice of using a scepter/gold mace as a symbol of his power and th people, yada yada. Apparently it was published in the Romanian press with no one noticing the sarcasm coming from an devout Catholic who's siter and mother(I think) were killed by Leftist forces during the Spanish Civil War.
