The Romans and the Kushites did engage in a brief war in the 1st century with the Kushite capital of Napata sacked by the Roman army of Gaius Petronius, prefect of Roman Egypt. So what if Petronius decided instead to continue marching southward and captures the Nubian queen, and annexes Nubia as a Roman province. Any consequences?
