Rohm and the SA overthrow Hitler.

The military were terrified of the prospect of the SA in charge(IOTL Rohm wanted to absorb the military into the SA in '34) and would immediately launch a counter-coup. Because real armies beat street thugs, the Reichswehr win.

Without Hitler, the Nazi Party is dead in the water and Germany is run as a military dictatorship. I doubt they'd go as spending crazy as the Nazis did OTL and WWII would be smaller in scope(almost certainly no Barbarossa and definitely no Holocaust TTL).

No holocaust,and things like that.

The SA were the vanguards of antisemitism in the early Party. It was them who attacked Jewish-owned businesses, broke the windows of synagogues, and beat people in the street merely for outward displays of Judaism. IIRC, Hiter, of all people, asked Rohm to have his thugs tone down their street activities in the advance of the '32 and '33 elections. It is true that without Himmler and Heydrich there would probably be fewer extermination camps, with a greater focus on Einsanzgruppen and more direct methods as means of genocide, but the Holocaust would still happen in some form or another.

With the SA, by some twist of a dark god, in charge, there would have been a lesser focus and a later start on WWII, but it would have happened in some form or another and the extermination of Jewish people in territories occupied by Germany with it. Of course, they might have already destroyed all the Jews in Germany by that point.

What would have happened if Rohm had overthrown Hitler? Lets assume he is tipped off about the Night of the Long Knives. His men lay an ambush for Hitler and the contingent of SS men sent to arrest him. Hitler and his escort are gunned down. Rohm announces a new national revolution with himself as the new Leader. He has rivals in the Nazi party of course, and the hostility of the army, but he has the backing of hundreds of thousands of armed SA men. He is a skilled organiser and leader, and has military experience.

What would have happened next?
Gay nazis, lmao

Just a note Ernst Rohm is not likely to moderate the Nazis. If anything he would be far more radical, in favor of overthrowing the Junker led Military.
