Rising Sun at high noon--A collaborative Fascist Japan victory TL

Rules for this collaborative TL are as follows:
1. All posts must be in the form of documents written by ATL character.
2. All docs must be written after 1965, before 2010.
3. As far as possible we should only allude to WWII events, we are more interested in this created world than how exactly it came about.
4. Whatever you write must fit with what others have already written.
5. Don't ruin it for everyone by deciding too much in your post.
6. If someone's post has inaccuracies or extreme improbabilities, post a critique.
7. If someone critiques, defend or retcon your post. If it's retconned, post again show the changes you have made.
8. I reserve the right to arbitrate differences on what is too improbable.
9. Rule 8 doesn't mean you can't critique me.

Dear diary,

The IJS Yamato passed under the bridge today as part of a parade in the name of the Emperor, to fireworks and celebration.

Things are getting worse every day. The commies put down riots in Copenhagen. The President's getting more senile. Some village in Manchuria got chem-bombed.

A group of people was arrested for trying to collaborate in writing a book where the Japs lost. They'll be executed at the Island by the authorities.

Must go now. Honor calls.

One thing... Japanese ships are called HIJMS (His Imperial Japanese Majesty's Ship).

The commies put down riots in Copenhagen

Ruskies overrun the whole European continent? Nice... we get Red Alert 3 minus the wanked-up weapons and schoolgirl commandos...

Now for my take on this...

JAPAN TESTS ATOMIC BOMB

Yesterday, an atomic bomb was detonated in the Australian Outback as part of a nuclear weapons test by Japanese nuclear physicists.

In a statement issued by the Imperial Japanese Army's Weapons Development Office, the test was said to be successful and that it had "advanced the Empire of Japan into a new era".

Present at the testing were the Army, Navy and Air Force Ministers and several high ranking officials of the Empire's armed services.

The nuclear weapons programme, dubbed the Osaka Project, was kept under wraps until yesterday when the test took place in the Australian Outback. Professor Taro Kodachi of the Tokyo University, leader of the project, said at the test site: "Today, forty years ago, the future of our glorious Empire was secured when the American Fleet was obliterated. Today, this year, we secure the future of our Empire for good by obtaining and harnessing the power of a thousand suns into a single weapon.".....

Is it possible to have a Facist Japan Victory TL where Australia and New Zealand are not occupied?

Wrong question

is it POSSIBLE to have Fascist Japan Victory T/L without Iriving the ASB?

That is the right question. The answer is absolutely not.

Just a question; would Japan "westernise" or would the Japanese Empire have some sort of cultural laws (like forbidding western clothes for women, forbidding Christmas and stuff like that)?

Who says the situation for Japan was the same as OTL? They could be up against Easter Island for all we know. Or the US could be an ineffectual dump. :p

True. Depending on how busy Irving the ASB has been.

However, lacking that sort of intervention, it is remarkably, if not stunningly, unlikely.

Critique: I think that in a Japanese victory TL, they would get an atom bomb way before 1981. Probably during the 50s, or at least the 60s.

Well, actually, I'd say that it is, but the POD has to be somewhere in the 1910s or 20s. Later, and the Japanese are already locked into the patterns that led to their defeat; earlier, you may have butterflied away fascist Japan entirely (for example, a Japan that has a more unqualified victory in the Russo-Japanese War is going to be a very different place politically, to say nothing of the possession of the oilfields in northern Sakhalin).

Trying to think of a way Japan could survive WW2 and this is all I could come up with....

Excerpts from The History of Comintern: 1919-2010 (Third Edition, Paris, 1982)

Chapter 18: Communism in the Americas

.......however, the fascist coup against the Roosevelt Government in 1933 would catapult the United States into an almost decade long struggle between the far-right and far-left factions. While the long term causes of the coup are obvious, feared communist revolution during the Great Depression, most historians agree that the conflict that came afterwords was is far more complicated. In essence, the coup became a self-fufilling prophecy--once the fascists were in power, the underground communist and socialist parties saw a surge in members due to the left-wing reaction against the fascists. This in turn created more support for the fascists in moderate ring-wingers who feared a communist revolution. The situation was exacerbated by the foreign aid given to both the fascist government and communists guerrillas. These factions inevitably ended up fighting each other, and while the conflict never neared the Civil War era level, the resulting chaos and political instability greatly weakened the United States.
