Richard I lives!

Apparently, the arrow that was aimed at Richard I in his battle at Limousin misses, he only died at the age of 41, but what would've happened in his later years of reign?

richard living longer

so arthur has a few more years to grow up as heir apparent, with a better chance of john not getting the crown?

Since Richard has already gutted English manpower, wrecked the treasury and managed to brilliantly turn most of the countries which were natural English allies or French enemies against him the only likely development is Richard refuses to allow Magna Carta to be made into law.

Also Richard gets properly condemned instead of his absurd image as the noble king from Robin Hood tales...

Magna carta probably never comes around in its OTL form. That said, the prospect of Richard being approached with a similar demand from the barons as his french wars wind down (not an unprecedented move, certainly), is interesting.

Nikephoros, not to mention the whole problem of those poor peasants and serfs fleeing to Sherwood after, to feed their families, they were forced to kill the king's deer. Not Prince John's deer.:D

That's one myth I CAN'T stand. After all, John only did the things he was hated for so he could pay for Richard's wars.
Ummm... Now, that's going too far the other direction. I think there is lots of evidence to suggest that John was a lousy king - for instance, after Richard's death, he was still a lousy king.

However, without Richard, he wouldn't be seen as the #1 all time worst king of England, that I'll agree.

If Richard lived, he might fill that spot, and we might have legends of 'Good King John'!:)

If he had survived to pursue the War, we'd see the survival of the Angevin Empire for another generation I believe. Richard may have been able to father a son during a general peace after that round of War and John may be pushed into the back. Magna Carta may never have happened. For all of Richard's bad points, him fighting far off in France was preferable to many to having John reigning in England.
