Richard, Duke of York is sent to Burgundy

Indeed though some of the records IV seen refer to a priest who told Richard about the pre contract
He is a bishop so still a priest...

(I am half-convinced who Richard felt his power in danger with his brother Edward’s death and had already talked with Stillington before taking in custody Edward V but I am not one of his supporters)

So, another thought I had here was, when things eventually settle down, would York be brought back to England from Burgundy, or would he remain there indefinitely? And regardless of which choice, who might be considered a bride for him? He's still got all of the Mowbray inheritance, so, Richard won't be able to give that to Howard without removing him from the picture.

Well that will depend from what Richard will decide to do with Stillington’s informations... In OTL he decided to use them for taking the throne but he can also dismiss them...

Well, Richard as simple regent/lord protector likely can not reverse his brother’s grants to Anne St. Ledger and Richard of York so his OTL allies will not have that lands and surely he can not strip his nephew of the Norfolk title...
As bride: if Edward need to marry elsewhere, Richard will surely replace him as husband for Anne of Brittany, if not I have no idea.. a double match for him and Catherine with Warwick’s children would not be unthinkable or he will marry some other noblewoman, English or foreign
If everything go right Richard will simply stay some months or a year or two in Burgundy before returning to England

Alright interesting, what do you think GLoucester is more likely to do with the information? Use it or leave it?

That will depend from how much he trust his sister Margaret and Burgundy and how much desperate is his own situation (as he and George were together with their sister Anne and her younger daughter Anne St. Ledger and his nephew Richard, Duke of York and Norfolk the beneficiaries of Edward’s more scandalous grants and Clarence’s children were actually the only ones of them who had really right to own their lands). If Edward is already crowned taking away the crown from him would be likely much more complicated than OTL for Richard and he had already transformed the Woodvilles in enemies, arresting and killing Queen Elizabeth’s brother.
The truth is who Richard at the death of Edward IV has too choices: being loyal to his nephew Edward V or try to take the crown. For me in OTL he had chosen the latter from the start. Maybe Elizabeth Woodville decide to override Hastings’ opinion and ordered the large escort she wanted for King Edward V and sent Richard in Burgundy as simple precautions, preventing Richard from doing anything more than taking the job of Lord Protector...

Hmm that could work, and would certainly ensure Richard has to play fair.

No matter what Richard chooses he would still keep Edward V alive as to have him killed means that everyone will rally around the nephew that he doesn’t have in his custody: Richard, Duke of York. A King he can control is better for him than one in Burgundy.

For marriages, perhaps Catherine of Navarre (b. 1468)? I’m not sure how many men and other resources they had, but she is high European Nobility and will be Queen Regent of Navarre; it would certainly bolster their prestige in the eyes of Europe with one York son being King of England (if Richard doesn’t make him illegitimate) and one being King Consort of Navarre.

A marriage with a very rich family, however, would be the most wise to get money and arms. I would suggest an Italian family but with the reception given when Catherine de Medici was married to Henri, I think it might hurt their cause more than it would help it.

I like her married to Edward V as well.

Catherine is destined to a French match, unless she go for the Spanish one who was offered to her, but will not marry outside from there...

So Richard ro Anne of brittany makes the most sense. Assuming of course that Edward V himself doesn’t either marry her or die before such a marriage can take place

Not sure why such an arrangement WASN'T attempted to OTL (Richard-Anne). Edward IV would get land for his son, the French wouldn't have as much of an issue with it as they did with her marrying Edward V or Emperor Maximilian. They wouldn't be THRILLED but a Plantagenet cadet is more advantageous than the king of England.

Definitely, and it also means they can toy with Edward V whenever they think he's being a prick.

Because Francis II still hoped to have a son and do not wished marry Anne to a cadet while Edward had already found a big heiress for Richard...

If Anne is still the heiress at her father’s death a switch of groom is not unthinkable... Edward can always marry Juana of Spain...
