Revolvers become more common than magazines or clips?

Is it possible with a POD no earlier than the defeat of Napoleon to have revolvers become the most common method of bullet storage in firearms? If not in the world, is there anywhere that it could happen?

Its not quite revolvers, but how about an earlier creation and adoption of the Dardick Tround?

That would make all firearms into magazine-loaded revolvers with versalite triangular rounds, which can fit multiple rounds and use them with the same gun. Imagine having a revolver that can fire .38, .30 and .22, for example.

Imagine a world where the average handgun looks like something akin to the Fallout 10mm Pistol.

That could be interesting if this idea falls through

This is probably more post 1900 than pre. Revolvers for a good part were more common than semi-auto handguns for much of the 20th century. Most police forces in the US at least didn't switch over to semis from revolvers until the late 80's to early 90's.

If there were more strenuous gun control laws put in place it's possible they would have targeted semi-automatics and halted their spread.

I don't see how it offers much benefit over a standard designed handgun in the vein of a 1911 or a Glock or Beretta.

And how is being able to use different rounds in the same gun any benefit. It seems much simpler to just use one type of round like the 9mm and stick with it rather than having to juggle multiple types in a logistics train. For a civilian it really doesn't matter because just go and buy whichever rounds you need from the store but for a military that uses rounds on the orders of billions that seems like extra complication for no real advantage.

Also why add the extra complexity of a revolver system once blow-back and locked breach semi autos have been developed. Those systems can fit more rounds in a grip section rather than having to widen the gun to include more rounds of a militarily acceptable cartridge.

Communism will be boosted. Every damn worker will get a gun? Thats change everything we know about the god blessed class struggle. General strikes will commonly goes peasant wars all over Europe. A "pistolero" TL Karl Marx crossing gun duel as a materialist approach to dialectic sounds really amazing.
