Reverse map challenge!

Make a plausible POD for this map. Get close enough to the POD I thought of while I was making the map, you get a cookie. (The map takes place in 1500, and that isn't Venice...)

No Teutonic Knights?

037771 summed my thoughts quite nicely. Unless Enland is actually the minor part of those french bits, I don't see how Wales has expanded so much at her expense.

Byzantium (or Nicaea) somehow retakes Cyrenaica...

Andalusia doesn't fall, and indeed remains rather strong. Mali takes Algiers.

The Crusaders in the Levant are much more successful and decide to make their newly conquered lands a theocracy under the Pope, which continues expanding until it covers all of Syria and Mesopotamia. That's my guess for the PoD.

Norway looks ugly.
:p

The PoD is in the 1200s, no?
Earlier.

I guessing its something to do with the Polish, which affects Denmark, which looks to northern England for expansion once more, which weakens England which strengthens Wales and thus England turns to France for proper expansion.
No. Close, though

Not really

Could it be connected with Manzikert? Could the Turks have turned south first instead of west?

OR

Its a Viking POD. Churchill in his History of the English Speaking Peoples says that Ireland had saved England from the Vikings and they regretted it ever since. Im thinking Ireland completely succumbs and England is still riven by the Danes and Scots to the north, the Welsh to the east and possibly a belligerent Normandy to the south. It could be that Britain is in fact entirely Viking, with England still looking for expansion to the south. That Russia could be Kievan Rus. Am I close?
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! (Don't ask) That's the Britain-Viking-Russian-French POD. Who can guess the Poland-Netherland-Papal Wank.

Yup. That's the explains the Papal Wank and Muslim Spain.

Is that large Green Blob in the East (the one that goes from the Caspian Sea to Finland) Russia or Golden Horde? (Please make it GH, way cooler than the Russkies)

England victorious in Hundred Years War. Mongols have settled permenantly in Eastern Europe or pushed the Russians into Eastern Europe where they appear to have become quite successful. The Eastern Orthodox Church has reunited with Rome which dispatched a crusade to save the Byzantine Empire from the Ottomans and also assisted them in the reconquest of Egypt. These crusades also allowed the Neopolitans to establish a Christian state in North Africa.
